I know that feeling when summer is precipitating down the side of my neck- and all I want to do is roll around the couch, watching TV. Then, I realise that the AC is in the bedroom, and if I moved an inch out of that doorway- the summer heat would immediately attack me.
End result: I am torn and miserable. In an alternative universe, where I’m being sensible- I would have bought a Portable Air Conditioner.

If you’re living in a place where you don’t have easy windows, or you don’t want to go through the complicated installation process of a window AC- this is perfect for you. It’s also great for elderly people or old souls.
However, much like any other ACs, one of the main things you should be checking in every portable AC you come across is its cooling power, and it’s known that 14,000 BTU is close to the highest cooling capacity of portable ACs in the market. This is why I’ve compiled a list of the best 14000 BTU-rated Portable Air Conditioners.

Large Portable AC Buying Guide
One of the main questions when it comes to buying a Portable AC is: Is it really worth it?
For some reason, the portable AC has a leg up on traditional window ACs. For instance, you don’t have to sacrifice your window or the amazing view just to feel cooler. You don’t have to worry about the risks of your window AC falling out of the window.
You don’t have to enjoy the cooling effects of the AC in one room only. Also, there’s the fact that a lot of landlords can be disapproving of Window ACs, which might tamper with their apartments.
So, if any of these reasons are things you resonate with, a portable AC is better for you than a Window AC. However, the window AC is more powerful in terms of cooling power. Since it has a larger exhaust vent, it expels heat at a much faster rate.
This is why the size of the room that can be cooled for the same BTU rating is higher in window ACs as compared to Portable air conditioners. Moreover, exhaustion pipes in portable ACs can create negative air pressure, slowing down the workings of the portable AC even more.
This is why I’ve presented this list of 14,000 BTU-rated Portable ACs. A 14,000 BTU rating is considered very powerful for the portable AC and can cool a small room of about 450 sq feet. If you want more out of your AC than this, then it might be preferable for you to look at window AC models.
